The second Budget of 2017 will be announced on 22 November and we’re calling for a different outcome to the first 2017 budget, which saw the Chancellor increase duty on cider.
The cider, brewing and pubs sector supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and contributes tens of billions of pounds to the UK economy, which could be jeopardised by a further duty increase next month.
Instead, we’re pushing for a cider duty cut of 2p per pint and a beer duty cut of 1p per pint. With pubs facing significant cost pressures, this would help encourage investment, create jobs and keep more of these vital community hubs open.
