September 28 2010

If you have an interest in cider and would like to gain an in-depth knowledge of the UK cider industry and cidermaking there is a two day course being held at the Gaymer Cider Mill in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

The course runs from October 13 – 15 and is designed to provide an introduction into the fascinating world of cider and perry, an overview of how the products are made, an understanding of the great heritage of the Cider Industry and a real appreciation of the drinks themselves.

‘There are a number of places available on the course when they will have the benefit of hearing at first hand from UK experts in cider and perry making,’ said NACM Director General Bob Price. ‘Previous participants have found it a very worthwhile - and extremely enjoyable - introduction to an industry that not only has a fascinating history but has successfully adapted and flourished in today’s market place.’

The course is aimed at giving participants a broad appreciation of the main types and styles of cider and perry, along with an understanding of the UK Cider Industry - including its historical development and its position in the alcoholic drinks market.

It will also allow those taking part to gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the main principles and practices involved in cider and perry production including key aspects associated with product quality.
