Accolade for photographer Neil
February 15 2010Congratulations to Bristol photographer Neil Phillips after having one of his pictures selected for the 2011 National Trust Calendar.
Neil's work has been regularly featured in the printed and online editions of Cider Matters over the years and we have used his spectacular picture of an orchard at the foot of the iconic Glastonbury Tor on a number of occasions.
Neil's original intention had been to recreate a watercolour postcard he found in a Glastonbury shop but over the years he thought the image must be a bit of 'artists licence' and almost gave up on finding the spot from which it was painted.
'However, it was a scene I couldn’t forget. On a cold, windy Tuesday in the middle of winter, I stopped the car again – drawn, this time, by the naked orchard sitting under some pretty spectacular clouds - to take a few more frames,' said Neil.
'Though, my photo differs in many ways to the image I initially set out to capture, I'm incredibly satisfied with its composition and sense of drama, so it will do for now.'
