Aspall reports record Christmas sales
January 04 2010
Suffolk cyder-maker Aspall has reported a doubling of their Christmas sales over the previous year.
'The strength of our Christmas performance shows that it is an extremely important trading period for us and that cider is not just a summer phenomenon. We're seeing an ironing out of the classical summer peak as the Aspall brand is increasingly appealing to consumers all year round.' said Geoff Bradman, Aspall commercial director.
'Our mulled cyder, which was relaunched in selected top-end on-trade outlets for Christmas, proved to be incredibly popular once again and sold out altogether at the end of December. One might assume that Perronelle’s Blush, the super-premium cyder blended with Crème de Mur blackberry liqueur, is a summer product, however it also enjoyed a record Christmas, with our December sales data virtually head-to-head with our summer sales peak.'
Aspalls say that their total cyder sales (on and off-trade) are currently growing by 85% year-on-year, demonstrating how quality products with real heritage will always fare well, no matter the economic climate.
• The company sources the majority of its apples from local Suffolk orchards and works with the region’s apple growers to ensure long-term sustainability.January 4, 2010
