Aspall launches new look font and glassware
April 13 2010Suffolk cyder-maker Aspall is introducing a highly contemporary new chrome font into the on-trade, as well as an additional style of branded glassware. These latest developments form part of a £1m brand investment announced last month and support the cyder’s continued expansion into the premium on-trade.
Designed by Cornelius, the world’s leading supplier of beverage dispense and cooling equipment, the new font is exclusive to Aspall and is available to top-end outlets and style bars from this month. The sleek design features the iconic Aspall knight at the base of the chrome unit as well as on the dispense pull. A redesigned font badge clearly displays the cyder’s 100% apple juice content, an integral part of the Aspall brand.
The new contemporary font joins Aspall’s more traditional swan-neck version, giving licensees and bar owners a choice of the two. New branded glassware with tall sloping sides also allows outlets to choose between this and the existing Aspall-branded goblets. Like the goblets, the tall glasses are available in half pint and pint sizes.
Said Aspall commercial director, Geoff Bradman: ‘Following on from the redesign of our bottles last month, we are now introducing both the new contemporary font and glassware into the on-trade as serve is a fundamental part of the Aspall quality experience. While the swan neck font and our original branded goblets are still extremely popular, we believe giving customers a choice between the two can only be a positive thing.
‘Our new bottle design was launched into trade last month across our four-strong range in both the on and off trade, and feedback so far has been extremely positive. By redesigning the labelling and upweighting the 100% juice content message on the neck collar, we are able to communicate to consumers the key product attributes of Aspall Suffolk Cyder.’
The £1m brand investment also includes new PoS material which was recently launched into trade, with new contemporary-looking coasters, tent cards and posters as well as newly-designed heavy-weight wooden-framed pub garden parasols. The parasols are available on a limited basis to selected on-trade customers.
In February, Aspall won the World’s Best Cider award for its Premier Cru, for a second consecutive year. Aspall also scooped the majority of the top category awards: Aspall Premier Cru also won World’s Best Dry Cider; Aspall Organic Suffolk Cyder was named the World’s Best Speciality Cider; and Aspall Draught Suffolk Cyder (bottled format) was awarded the World’s Best Medium Cider.
